Be Admitted to the University Honors College & Declare Honors Psychology Major

Meet with Psychology Honors TA or HFA

 

Ongoing:
Take 2 Psychology Honors
Electives (you may petition
to substitute 1 Honors 
elective from any other
department or program)

Apply to Research Labs

Get Research Experience (PSY 4800-4806)

5

Find Faculty Research Advisor and Propose Honors Thesis

Complete & Present Honors Thesis (PSY 4998 & 4999)

 

Applications & Requirements


Psychology Honors Track Handbook - Please see the Psychology Honors Track Handbook for detailed information about each of these required phases of the Psychology Honors Track. Only two of these phases require a special application.  These are Phase 1 and Phase 5.

Phase 1: Students must first apply to (and be accepted by) the University Honors College.

Phase 5: Honors Thesis Proposal (to be submitted no later than spring of the Junior year)

Phase 5 Application Deadlines (Honors Thesis Proposal)

  • Spring deadline: June 16, 2025 (for students who expect to graduate at the end of Spring 2026; these students would enroll in PSY 4998 in Fall 2025 and in PSY 4999 in Spring 2026*)
  • Fall deadline: November 7, 2025 (for students who expect to graduate at the end of Fall 2026; these students would enroll in PSY 4998 in Spring 2026 and PSY 4999 in Fall 2026*)
  • Spring deadline: June 19, 2026 (for students who expect to graduate at the end of Spring 2027; these students would enroll in PSY 4998 in Fall 2026 and in PSY 4999 in Spring 2027*)

*Please note that you cannot enroll in PSY 4998 (or in PSY 4999 the next semester) until you have submitted a Phase 5 application that has been approved by your faculty research mentor AND approved by the Honors Faculty Advisor for Psychology.
