Neuroscience Major

Understanding the brain across disciplines

Built on collaboration across departments and colleges, the new Neuroscience program emphasizes hands on-research, laboratory experience, and training in both classical and cutting-edge neuroscience methods. Students gain experience working with diverse approaches, including experimental, computational, and neuroimaging techniques, and learn how converging evidence across methods can be used to answer fundamental questions about the brain. This interdisciplinary program spans two colleges and departments—the Department of Psychology (College of Social and Behavioral Science) and the School of Biological Sciences (College of Sciences). Students will have the opportunity to learn from world-class faculty in both departments.

The major offers three degree pathways—a Bachelor of Arts (BA), a Bachelor of Science (BS), and a Pre-Med BS—allowing students to tailor their training to their academic interests and career goals. The Neuroscience Major will begin accepting students in Fall 2026.

Students pursuing a Bachelor's of Neuroscience have the opportunity to participate in the Science Research Initiative (SRI), a nationally recognized program that provides early, immersive research experiences. Through SRI, students will have opportunities to join research labs, working alongside faculty and peers to investigate questions related to brain function, behavior, and health using modern experimental and analytical approaches.
