Grant title: "Couple Therapy as an Adjunct to Medical Treatment for Relationally Distressed Individuals with Metabolic Syndrome and Their Partners"

The goal of this project is to collect preliminary data on whether couple therapy has an effect on health behavior/outcomes as well as relationship processes/outcomes for those at risk for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Study therapists are clinical psychology graduate students that Katie and Brian Baucom have trained in Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy. The project is conducted in collaboration with several other department faculty members (Brian Baucom, Tim Smith, Paula Williams) as well as faculty in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine (Katie Fortenberry, Kara Frame).
