Postdoctoral Fellowship Program
For Underrepresented And
Disadvantaged Scholars

Sponsored In Partnership With The Office
Of Equity And Diversity

F.A.Q.

Q: Do international scholars qualify for the underrepresented postdoctoral scholars program?

A: International scholars bring cultural and often linguistic diversity to a university community. However, the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program for Underrepresented and Disadvantaged Scholars at the Department of Psychology, University of Utah is designed to encourage graduates from groups traditionally and currently underrepresented in US higher education to pursue careers in university teaching and research. Building a faculty representative of the domestic diversity in the United States is a priority of the University of Utah in order to fully realize the educational benefits of diversity for all students. Therefore, this particular opportunity is restricted to citizens or nationals of the United States, and individuals with refugee, asylee, or DACA status.

Note: If you are an international scholar with a strong match of research experience and interests to one or more faculty members listed as offering structured postdoctoral research opportunities through this program, we encourage you to submit a separate application. We will consider supporting postdoctoral fellowships for highly qualified individuals who do not meet the eligibility criteria for this program if we have funds available from other sources (with no guarantee that such fellowships will be awarded in any one year).

Q: What if I am really interested in one of these research opportunities but do not have a nontraditional background or do not do research that informs the understanding of the experiences of members of groups historically underrepresented in higher education in the United States?
