Her project is entitled, "Decision Strategies for Investing in New Relationships".

Considerable past work has examined both initial romantic attraction and established romantic bonds. However, the crucial fledgling relationship stage that bridges them is not well-understood. The goal of the Utah Pair Project is to advance our basic understanding of how initial romantic attraction progresses (or does not progress) into a long-term partnership. In this preregistered study, we are recruiting people who have started dating someone new within the past month and surveying them about their dating experiences weekly over a six month period. Our hope is that the project will begin to address a sizable gap in the literature on how people ultimately select long-term romantic partners: a choice that has a multitude of downstream consequences for physical and mental health.
