Brian Baucom and Paula Williams received a Stress Measurement Network Pilot Grant.

Awarded from: Stress Measurement Network (funded by the National Institute on Aging)

Grant title: "Development of a Standard Protocol for the Assessment of Stress-Related Vocal Responding"

Brian Baucom and Paula Williams, along with Panayiotis Georgiou (Electrical Engineering, University of Southern California), received a pilot grant from the Stress Measurement Network (funded by the National Institute on Aging) entitled Development of a Standard Protocol for the Assessment of Stress-Related Vocal Responding. Physical properties of the human voice, particularly fundamental frequency (f0), have been linked to a variety of physiological, behavioral, and affective outcomes that suggest it may be a promising new method of stress measurement. This pilot project will examine the association between acoustic characteristics of speech and stress measures with the long-term goal of developing a standard voice analysis protocol for stress assessment.
